What is Ayurvedic Cooking?
What is Ayurveda, and how does it relate to cooking?
Ayurvedic cooking is a healthy way of eating that uses natural ingredients and the five elements. The basis of ayurvedic cooking is based on three main principles:
- Food should be easy to digest.
- Food should be nutritious, high in vitamins and healthy fats.
- Food should be delicious, so you enjoy eating it!
Why try an Ayurvedic Diet?
The Ayurvedic approach to nutrition is not just a diet. It is a way of life that incorporates the principles of Ayurveda, which can be traced back to ancient India. The original practice of Ayurveda was developed by sage Charaka as early as 600 BCE and has been used for thousands of years in India and its surrounding countries. The main purpose of the Ayurvedic diet is to help balance your mind and body so you feel better overall. By focusing on eating foods that are good for you both physically and mentally, an individual will feel more energized than before they started this type of eating plan.

The Art of Well-Being and Ayurveda Cookbook by Rosemary Gladstar, David Hoffmann, and Susan Hess
This book is a great resource for the beginner, and it’s the best one I’ve found. It has a lot of recipes, which is important because you have to eat in order to live. And if you’re new to Ayurveda cooking, there’s no better place to start than with this book!
Ayurveda Cookbook for Self-Healing by Usha Lad and Dr. Vasant Lad
This is a good introductory book to Ayurveda as a whole and how it can help you in your everyday life. It includes lots of recipes for soups, snacks, salads and main dishes that are easy to make at home. The book also has tips on using the spices and herbs used in each recipe so you don’t have to buy new ingredients just for one dish. I like that this cookbook gives health advice about what foods can treat certain ailments (such as wheatgrass juice for detoxing), but also cautions readers not to try everything at once because it could be overwhelming or harmful if overdone.
The Big Book of Ayurvedic Cooking by Amrita Sondhi
This is a great book for beginners, and also for those who have been cooking Ayurvedic food for years. The recipes are easy to follow and the pictures help you understand the process better. It’s one of my favorite books on Ayurveda because it has so many recipes but this also means that there isn’t as much detail in each recipe as some other resources provide.
For anyone who wants to get healthier or lose weight, this book can help you do that by providing healthy options for every meal of the day!

Conclusion
Cooking with love is not just about the ingredients, it’s about the person who cooks and how they approach cooking. In this way, cooking can be as unique and special as you are.
To start cooking with love, try to simply focus your attention on the food itself and give it all of your respect. Focus on what you’re doing while you’re doing it: don’t check Facebook or Instagram while stirring a pot; don’t listen to music while chopping vegetables; don’t talk on the phone while cutting chicken into bite-sized pieces.
Cooking with love is really about paying attention to what we do in life—whether we’re eating or not—and trying our best not to pass judgment on things around us (including ourselves). If we can do that for ourselves first by being kinder and more loving toward ourselves and others (including those things), then perhaps we’ll find that everything else falls into place like magic!
